Axial & coronal CT scans demonstrate a mass in the anterior superior
aspect of the temporal bone. The tegmen tympani is destroyed & the
mass has extended into the epitympanic recess to erode the head of the
malleus. Note the widening of the proximal facial nerve canal (lower lt)
& the proximity of the mass to the geniculate ganglion
