Legend
Images Left: Axial fat saturation T2 weighted images demonstrate a large
irregular hyperintense lesion in posterior portion of the tongue. The oropharynx
is nearly obliterated by the mass lesion. Nodular hyperintense lesions are
seen in the carotid space on both sides.
Image Right: Axial fat sat Gd-enhanced T1 weighted image at a more caudal
level shows the mass extends anteriorly and laterally on Lt side.
The Lt parapharyngeal space is involved.
Legend
Images Lt and Bottom Rt: Axial post gadolinium fat saturation T1 weighted
images demonstrate slightly heterogeneous enhancement of the tongue lesion
and the nodular lesions at bilateral carotid spaces.
Image Top Rt: Coronal post gadolinium fat saturation image reveals extension
superiorly along the left lateral wall of oropharynx. The mass has also extended
inferiorly through the mylohyoid muscle and into the left submandibular space.
Legend
Images Rt and Lt : Coronal post gadolinium fat saturation T1 weighted images
reveal extension of the lesion to the palate superiorly. Inferior extension
along the pharyngeal wall to hypopharynx is seen on both sides.
Bilateral hyperintense lesions at the submandibular space are seen. (T. Lai)
