At the craniocervical junction, there is fusion of C1 with the occiput. The dens is
hypoplastic or eroded. The central canal is markedly narrowed at the foramen
magnum. A prominent disk protrusion causes an additional stenosis at C3-4.
High signal in the cord indicates contusions or myelomalacia.
