Images 1& 2: Sagittal T2 and T1 weighted images of lumbosacral spine
reveal irregularity in the endplates at L4/5 level. Abnormal signal, high on
T2 and low on T1, is demonstrated in the marrow space around L4/5 level.
Image 3: Sagittal post gadolinium fat saturation image shows
enhancement in the intervertebral disc and endplates at L4/5 level.
Images 4, 5 and 6: Sagittal images similar to those in page 1 in a mid-sagittal
plane demonstrate again the abnormal signal and enhancement in the endplates
at L4/5 level. In addition, similar findings are also seen at L2/3 level.
Images 7,9 and 10: Axial proton density and T2 weighted images of the lumbar
spine reveal hypertrophic change in the posterior facet joints on both sides.
Images 8 and 11: Axial post gadolinium fat saturation T1 weighted images
reveal intense enhancement in the facet joints on both sides.
