Legend
Image 1 & 2: Axial T2 and proton density weighted images of brain reveal
a hyperintense lesion in the region of Rt temporal lobe with involvement of
both gray and white matter. Mild degree of mass effect is present.
Another subtle hyperintensity is noted in the right posterior thalamus.
Legend
Images 3 & 4: Coronal T1 weighted images show the
Rt temporal lesion as subtle low signal area.
Legend
Images 1 & 2: Follow up Axial T2 weighted images demonstrate the
lesion as heterogeneous area with significant interval growth in size.
Marked associated vasogenic edema and mass effect are seen.
Legend
Image 3: Coronal T1 weighted image of brain reveals ring-like high signal
area within the lesion which is likely due to subacute hemorrhage.
Images 4 & 5: Coronal & axial post gadolinium T1 weighted images show intense peripheral
enhancement of the lesion. Central nonenhancing area of the lesion is likely due to necrosis.
The thalamic high signal noted on page 1 represented some vasogenic edema.
