1 & 2: Sagittal T2 and T1WI of the lumbar spine reveal heterogeneous signal in
the posterior paraspinal soft tissues related to the recent laminectomy at L5-S1.
There is desiccation of L4-5 and L5-S1 disks, and posterior bulging of the L5-S1 disk.
3 & 4: Axial T2WI and T1WI with gadolinium show isointense lesion in the left lateral
recess and posterior soft tissues, which enhance with gadolinium.
5: Sagittal T1WI with gadolinium with slice selections for page 3 disclose enhancement
of the post surgical changes and linear enhancement of a nerve root within the thecal sac
6, 7 & 8: Axial T1WIs images with gadolinium (see page 2 for levels) show enhancing
S1 nerve root in the left lateral recess and enhancing left paraspinal soft tissue.
