Legend
Images 1 & 2: T2 sagittal sequences through the lumbar spine reveal increased signal
in the vertebral bodies of L4 and L5.with narrowing of the intervening disk space.
Note discontinuity of the anterior cortices of the vertebral bodies with a mass anterior
to the L4-5 disk space, and high signal in the prevertebral and soft tissues as well as
in the soft tissues between the L4 and L5 spinous processes.
Image 3: On a T1 sagittal sequence, the L4 and L5 vertebral bodies demonstrate
decreased signal in the marrow.
Legend
T2 (images 4 and 6) and PD (images 5 and 7) sequences through the L4-5 level
again demonstrate the prevertebral soft tissue mass and marrow signal changes.
Legend
Sagittal and axial T1 gadolinium-enhanced sequences reveal marked enhancement
of the L4 and L5 vertebral bodies and disk space as well as prevertebral soft tissues.
