Lt & middle images: Sagittal fat saturation T2 weighted images of lumbar spine show
a slightly hyperintense lesion in the Rt lateral aspect of spinal canal at L5/S1 level.
Rt image: Sagittal T1 weighted image shows again the lesion as slightly low signal
area in the spinal canal. The soft-tissue mass is at the L4-5 interspace and extends
inferiorly along the posterior body of L5.
All 4 images: Axial T2 (left) and proton density weighted images demonstrate
the slightly hyperintense epidural lesion in the Rt side of the spinal canal, causing
marked compression of the right L5 nerve root in the lateral recess and
displacement of the thecal sac. The mass has a well defined low intensity periphery.
