Training

How do I become a certified scanner operator at the Center for FMRI?

 1)    Attend the Safety Training Lecture. (Dates for Safety Lectures)

 2)    Pass the on-line safety test.

 3)    Attend the Operator Training Lecture.

 4)    Complete the two 2-hour hands-on training sessions with Cecelia Kemper.

How do I sign up for Safety Training and Operator Training Lectures?

 1)  Have your Project PI submit an on-line request (link: http://cfmriweb.ucsd.edu/operator-training).

 2)  The Center schedules the Safety Training Lecture when 12 or more requests are received.  The scheduled session will then be posted on the CFMRI website and notification will be distributed via CFMRI E-Updates. Please note that no individual notification will be made.

 3)  After each Safety Lecture,  Peter Wong will take the attendance record with attendees’ email addresses and send out passwords to take the online test.

 4)   Using the assigned password, take the online safety test.  (Link: http://cfmriweb.ucsd.edu/etraining).

 5)   After passing the online test, attend the one-hour Operator Training Lecture which is usually scheduled in the same week as the Safety lecture.

6)  We encourage everyone to attend the safety lecture even if they do not need the official training.

How do I sign up for  Hands-on Operator training?

 1)  Based on the  PI selecting the operator training on the on-line request (link:  http://cfmriweb.ucsd.edu/operator-training), Linda Dileo will schedule the training.

 2)  Complete the two 2-hours sessions. (Certificate will be awarded.)

 3)  PI must email Eman Ghobrial (eghobrial@ucsd.edu) requesting that the operator be added to their approved research project(s).

 4)  After-hours and weekend access to the building is given ONLY to certified operators.
